Toivala-säätiön Globaali etelä -apuraha.

Tavoite ja suuruus

Säätiön tavoitteena edistää kehittyvien maiden maaseudun tasa-arvoista ja kestävää kehittymistä. Myönnämme rahoitusta säätiön tavoitteita tukevien opintojen edistämiseen. Tukea myönnetään opinnoista ja/tai työharjoittelusta aiheutuviin kustannuksiin, jotka syntyvät kohdemaassa.

Apuraha on korkeintaan 1 000 euroa. Apurahojen saajat valitsee säätiön hallitus. Toivala-säätiö pidättää oikeuden olla myöntämättä apurahoja, mikäli sopivia hakemuksia ei ole saapunut.

Apurahan myöntämisen edellytykset

Kohderyhmänä ovat perustutkinto- tai jatkotutkinto-opiskelijat Itä-Suomen yliopiston tai Savonia-ammattikorkeakoulun maaseutualueiden kehittämiseen liittyvillä opintoaloilla (esim. luonnontieteet, metsätieteet ja luonnonvara-ala).

Hakijalta vaaditaan:

• Hyvä opintomenestys. Hakijan on selvitettävä, miten hänen opintonsa ovat edistyneet, esim. opintosuoritusotteella.
• Työsuunnitelma, joka on tehtävä suomeksi tai englanniksi. Pituus korkeintaan 5 sivua.

Raportointiaikataulu ja sisältö sovitaan valittujen hakijoiden kanssa erikseen. Säätiö käsittelee raportit luottamuksellisesti. Raporttien sisältöjä ja tuloksia voidaan käyttää anonyymisti.

Apuraha maksetaan kahdessa erässä, joista jälkimmäinen osa maksetaan raportointivelvollisuuden täytyttyä. Jos apurahaa ei käytetä suunnitelman mukaisesti, se voidaan periä takaisin. Hakijan on ilmoitettava välittömästi apurahan myöntäjälle, jos hän ei pysty käyttämään apurahaa siihen tarkoitukseen, johon se on myönnetty. Käsittelyajat huomioon ottaen apurahahakemukset tulee jättää vähintään 3 kuukautta ennen apurahan käyttöä.

Säätiön hallitus valitsee apurahojen saajat ja ilmoittaa päätöksistä suoraan hakijoille sähköpostitse.

Hakuohjeet

Apurahaa haetaan 31.10.2024 mennessä hakulomakkeella. Hakemukseen tulee liittää suunnitelma apurahan käytöstä, ansioluettelo, mahdolliset suositukset ja tieto mikäli hakija hakee rahoitusta myös muista lähteistä. Säätiön hallitus haastattelee hakijat.

Säätiön hallitus tekee apurahojen saajien kanssa sopimuksen apurahan käytöstä. Sopimuksen hyväksyntä on edellytyksenä apurahan maksamiselle.

Global South Grant

Aim and magnitude

The foundation's goal is to promote the equal and sustainable development of rural areas in developing countries. We grant funding to promote studies that support the foundation's goals. Support is granted for the costs of studies and/or internships that occur in the destination country.

The grant is a maximum of 1 000 euros. The grant recipients are chosen by the foundation's board. The Toivala Foundation reserves the right not to award grants if no suitable applications have been received.

Conditions for awarding the grant

The target group is undergraduate or postgraduate students in fields of study related to the development of rural areas at the University of Eastern Finland or Savonia University of Applied Sciences (e.g. forestry and  natural resources).

The applicant is required to:

• Good academic success. The applicant must find out how his studies have progressed, e.g. with a transcript.
• Work plan, which must be written in Finnish or English. Maximum length 5 pages.

The reporting schedule and content will be agreed with the selected applicants separately. 

The foundation treats the reports confidentially. The contents and results of the reports can be used anonymously.

The grant is paid in two installments, the latter part of is paid after the reporting obligation is fulfilled. If the grant is not used in according to the plan, it can be reclaimed. The applicant must inform the issuer of the grant immediately if they are unable to use the grant for the purpose it was awarded for. Taking account of the processing times, grant applications should be submitted at least 3 months before the grant is to be used.

The foundation's board will select the grant recipients and informs the applicants of the decisions directly by e-mail.

Application instructions

Apply for the grant by 31.10.2024 using the application form. The application must include a plan for the use of the grant, a CV, any possible recommendations, and information on whether the applicant is also seeking funding from other sources. The foundation's board interviews the applicants.

The foundation's board makes an agreement with the grant recipients regarding the use of the grant. Approval of the agreement is a prerequisite for the payment of the grant.
